Ingrid Marie
Found in the schoolyard of the Hoed School on the Island Fyn (Funen in English) in Denmark in the early 1900s, then named after one of the teacher’s daughters, this glamourous apple emits old Hollywood charm. With rich and luxurious deep shades of maroon and red, freckled with white and a golden splash of russeting in the stem cavity, this apple will have you thinking "Isn't she lovely…” As a chance seedling from the well known Cox’s Orange Pippin, as well as Elstar, its delicate aromatic flavor boasts similarities to its famous parents. A mid/late season treat, the Ingrid Marie is a solid multipurpose apple, eaten fresh, baked or in cider. Harvest early-mid September.
