Weddings

No wedding is quite as cozy and fun as a Vermont farm wedding, and no Vermont farm wedding is quite as magical and authentic as those at Scott Farm. Broad vistas of hillside orchards, a scenic pond nestled beside rustic barns, remarkable stone sculptures, and historic vacation homes are a few of the many pleasures you and your guests will enjoy when you host your special day in southern Vermont at our 571-acre working farm and heirloom apple orchard, which was also a primary filming location for the 1999 film The Cider House Rules.

Our beautiful historic property is the perfect Vermont location for your New England wedding. You'll be surrounded by a National Register listed historic farmstead in active cultivation since 1791. Decidedly picturesque and rural, yet close to bustling, artsy Brattleboro, we offer a truly unique venue for your important day.

We’re also the perfect venue to treat your guests to our growing line of delicious hard ciders, made right here at the farm from our very own heirloom apples.

Scott Farm is a Certified B Corp, and we’re driven by our values: history, connection to the land, and environmental stewardship. If these values are important to you too, you’ll feel right at home with us and help connect your guests to the importance of caring for our unique Vermont landscape too.

Because we only host 10 weddings each year, you'll know your very special day is special to us too and will receive the personal attention it deserves.

Venues

Whether you choose to celebrate in our lovely Apple Barn or the charming Dutton Farmhouse, a Scott Farm wedding isn't just an event, it's an authentic and unique experience.

The Apple Barn is our primary reception and event location. This charming space can accommodate 120 guests. It has 3 bathrooms, one of which is ADA accessible, and a full commercial kitchen.

For smaller weddings of 20 or fewer, you can reserve the Dutton Farmhouse and have an alfresco dinner reception under a tent or in the open ell attached to the farmhouse. The ceremony site offers vistas of the orchard and beyond. Dutton Farmhouse bookings include a two night stay for up to 8 guests.

Various outdoor open spaces at the farm are also available with your rental on request. Come visit, and we’ll work with you to find the perfect spot for all your events!

Costs

The Apple Barn cost of $4500 includes tables, chairs, dishware, glassware, and table settings. It does not include linens, centerpieces, or serving ware. We have a list of preferred vendors for food, alcohol, flowers, music, photographers, and additional rentals. We’ll ask for a $500 deposit to hold the date. The deposit is refundable after the event as long as no damage has occurred. The full payment of $4500 must be received 3 months before the date of your event.

Dutton Farmhouse is available for $2500. The amenities and access to our vendors list are similar to the Apple Barn event room. A two night stay for up to 8 guests is included. We also ask for a $500 deposit to hold the date.

Stay at the Farm

From a Summer 2025 bride:

My husband and I...will continue to treasure Scott Farm as a destination. The staff are absolutely fantastic and went above and beyond to help us produce the (slightly alternative) wedding of our dreams. Our 80 guests could comfortably gather in the Apple Barn, by the brook, and at Naulakha for our send-off brunch the morning after.

The natural beauty and calm of Dummerston combined with the beautiful, quirky features of the property like the stone walls and café bar really made the whole event feel like an escape from reality. We were able to rent all the houses on the property for ourselves and our immediate families, which was a great way to spend lots of time together (and have help close by on set-up day!).

It was personally meaningful to me as a native Vermonter to share this state with our people, especially at a venue that encapsulates so many of the values and features that I love about it. I could go on and on!

Some more key points:

  • We were a very DIY couple and appreciated the control we were given for space usage, setup, and flow of the day -- we did not need a lot of hand-holding and we never felt like we were being "managed"

  • I have a family member who uses a wheelchair and he was able to get around the Apple Barn and surrounding grounds just fine

  • We ordered apple cider doughnuts from the farm as part of our wedding dessert and they were A

  • The vendors that Scott Farm suggested to us were all great...

  • Many of our guests were LGBTQIA and (not surprisingly for Vermont) were very comfortable

  • My father in law wanted to bake sourdough bread for our welcome dinner and [a Scott Farm staff] brought us her personal Dutch oven for him to use!?!

I would recommend Scott Farm as a venue for anyone looking for a naturally beautiful, simple venue highlighting the Vermont landscape and local food economy. We will treasure these memories forever.
