Apples are sacred trees to the old Irish druidic peoples; orchards are even more special for the nourishment they provide.  Representing love, healing, and youthfulness, apples symbolized the letter Q in the Ogham script of Ireland. Join Mike Bald, our Royalton neighbor and Elf-minder, in building your own magic for the supernatural beings who protect the trees. Mike provides wooden blanks or "cookies" and paints and brushes and river stones, while participants provide the inspiration to create unique fairy doors and elf houses. Stories, a touch of history, seasonal treats, and good company do create a very special energy!

Instructor Bio - Michael Bald has kept an eye out for trolls and elves, sprites and fairies since first trying to explain the mysterious swirling of a fern frond on a still afternoon, or the dizzying spin of a single beech leaf. Pruning apple trees and managing exotic plants is the functional piece of the business, and Mike trains ecology / horticulture students in faraway places like Rhode Island, Northern Ireland, and the Irish Republic. These overseas connections and travels cemented the curiosities, and Mike happily shares his views of the dynamic working landscape and things just beyond our awareness or comprehension. Past present future, corn beans squash, solid liquid gas, the physical, spiritual and in-between worlds, come create enjoy!
