Are you curious about pawpaws? Well, this is the workshop for you. Come and listen to Laurie, who has years of experience and an absolute passion for this native American fruit.
Starting with the best possible introduction...TASTING!...this workshop will cover the natural history of pawpaw trees, which are both hardy here and almost entirely untroubled by pests and disease. We'll cover their site requirements and the specifics of germination, planting, pollination, harvest, and use. Slides of Laurie's own fruiting trees and plenty of time for Q&A will round out the discussion.
Laurie Lockwood lives in Canterbury, NH, on land that's been farmed for over 200 years. The old garden plot has become raised permaculture beds, and new fruit tree guilds dot the surrounding area. Using understories of fruiting shrubs, aromatic herbs, and flowers, she grows pawpaws, pears, kiwis, elderberries, and sweet crabapples. So far.
