Book Talk - Turning the Soil: 250 Years of Vermont Agriculture

  • Scott Farm 733 Kipling Rd Dummerston, VT, 05301 United States (map)
book cover with farm scene

Join us for a fantastic book talk with Scott Farm Advisory Board member Roger Allbee on his new book on the history of Vermont agriculture. We’ll also hear about Scott Farm’s unique connections to the history of farming in the state.

Roger grew up in Brookline on his family's hilltop farm where he and his wife Ann still live. He learned from early childhood about the resilience and dedication of his ancestors, who had farmed in the area since 1794. His book traces the history of the changes in the land, communities, farmers, practices, production, and policies in Vermont over more than 250 years and celebrates the pattern of invention that parallels the history of Vermont farming.

Books will be available for purchase at the event, and the Farm Market and Pippin’s Café will be open.

Free! No registration required.
